Wilbert Plijnaar has had a stellar career in both worlds of print and animation. As a visual development and storyboard artist, he has worked for studios such as Disney, DreamWorks, Universal, Fox, Warner Bros., Paramount, and Lucasfilm. His credits include The Lorax, Despicable Me, The Princess and the Frog, How To Hook Up Your Home Theater, Ice Age, Ice Age: The Meltdown, Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs, Jimmy Neutron; Boy Genius and Osmosis Jones.
An accomplished writer and illustrator, he is the co-author of two award-winning weekly comic strip series produced in his native country, The Netherlands. His books have been published in 5 languages, and thus far have sold over a million copies. In 1995, he was the recipient of Holland's most prestigious comic book award, the 'StripSchap Prize.'
In addition, Wilbert Plijnaar has been successful in the field of advertising. He directed a series of commercials for Comic House Productions in Amsterdam, several of which have won awards at such prestigious events as the New York Animation Festival amongst others.
As an illustrator his clients have included: Philips, Dutch Railways, Pepsi Cola, Dutch Ministry of Environment, Esquire Magazine, United Dutch Publishers VNU, and MelkUnie for which he received the distinguished Dutch Art Directors Club-Award award.
